HEARING AND VISION SCREENING

During the school year, Bannockburn students may have their hearing and/or vision screened by a school nurse who is certified in vision and hearing screenings.

Hearing screening is performed for students in kindergarten through 3rd grade, transfer students, students who receive special education services, and students who have been referred by a teacher or parent. Students who have had an audiology evaluation within the year do not require screening.

Vision screening is performed for students in kindergarten, 2nd, and 8th grades, transfer students, students who receive special education services, and students who have been referred by a teacher or parent. Students who have a recent eye exam report on file do not require vision screening.

Once screening is completed, parents are notified if their child requires further evaluation. Your school nurse may have certificates for a free eye examination and glasses (if needed) for qualifying students.

The parent or legal guardian of a student may object to hearing or vision screenings for their children on religious grounds. If a religious objection is made, a written and signed statement detailing such objections must be presented to the school.
